Your cover letter should convey why you and only you are the right person for the job. As a supplement to the resume, the cover letter offers the opportunity to introduce arguments that go beyond hard facts.
There are three things you should convey:
Your qualifications: Why can you do this? Where did you learn it? How good was your training?
The benefit for the company: When a „profit officer“ decides, explain why the company will make more profit. If a „process manager“ decides, explain why everything will run more smoothly if you are on board.
And finally, describe your motivation: why you want the job, why you want to do this job. Why it is so important to you and with what zeal you will go to work. If you succeed in all this, you have a good chance of getting the job. But we would also like to give you a few tips.
A few tipps:
A letter can not be too long, but too boring. Write only things that are beneficial to the employer.
Get right in with a „say.“
Show achievements – provide evidence of your performance.
Credibility – stay authentic. „Fiddling around does not go down well. People want to get to know the person behind the writing.
Refer specifically to the company, its projects, its website. Perhaps you can provide additional arguments especially for the required strengths.
Work carefully – Make the documents consistent in color, font size, font color, line spacing, use the requested formats and include all requested documents.
If you know who will decide about your hiring, you may find something on the web that will help you make your letter even more appealing. Perhaps the salutation, or a common hobby.
